Planning Permission, Extensions and Loft Conversions in Islington, North London

We don’t pretend to be the biggest company out there, but we don’t want to be. We’re a small team of specialists, designers, surveyors and planning consultants who know the local area and offer a one-to- one service throughout the entire planning and design process.
We know how planning applications work, we know Islington council policies (every council is different), we know what will and won’t be granted planning permission so we won’t make empty promises. We promise.
Home extensions, loft conversions, kitchen extensions and planning permission come in all shapes and sizes but the regulations don’t differ too much from one extension to the other, strange as that may sound. The council want to protect the look of the area so to know how they think is to know what they like (and don’t like). Click here for more details..

Home extensions and loft conversions in Bristol

Bristol, despite being one of UK’s top cities, is also one of UK’s best kept secrets. If more people knew what a great place it is, more people would live here but for the moment, let’s keep it to ourselves.
We know Bristol inside out and we know how planning permission in Bristol works. Every street is different, every home is different, every idea is different but we know how the system works so we know how to make it work for every idea.
New home extensions in Bristol are popping up all over the place. There’s no need to move if you can simply extend your current home and create that extra space but people are often not aware of how much room can be found. Loft conversions and kitchen extension can double your loving space.
That’s right, double! Click here for more details..

Architectural Designers in Bristol - Architects For Planning Drawings Bristol

Drawings for planning permission are not difficult to design if you know how planning permission works.
Planning permission is not difficult to understand if you know how planning regulations work.
Planning regulations are not difficult to understand if you know how local councils work.
We know how local councils work. And planning regulations, and planning permission. We specialise in planning permission in Bristol and London but we know what we’re doing, wherever you live.
Every council has slightly different requirements so there is no one-size- fits all for planning drawings. We need to do a little research first but that’s easy enough. Most planning applications are available online so we can have a snoop around at what’s been granted permission in the streets near to your home. This gives a great idea of what’s possible. We can also see the applications that have been refused permission, which is often more helpful than the successful applications because it demonstrates precisely where the boundaries lie. Thinking of a loft conversion?

Thinking of a loft conversion and not sure what it will look like?
Stand on your landing and look up. Can you see the ceiling above you? Now imagine all your internal walls have disappeared so you’re staring at a large, uninterrupted ceiling space.
What you’re actually looking at is the floor space for your loft above. It’s pretty big, right?
That’s how much space is up there.
Loft Conversions are widely considered to be the single best investment a homeowner can make.
Every house is different, of course, so seek advice (we’re a good place to start) but a loft conversion will usually add at least 30% extra floor space to your home. That’s quite a lot. Enough for an extra bedroom? A playroom for the kids? Master bedroom, en-suite and general escape hole for the grown-ups of the house?

Light is fantastic but don’t go windowtastic

Many people worry about getting light into their new loft conversion or kitchen extension.
“We want as many windows as possible!”
We, at Elevation Planning, hear that a lot! But a loft conversion doesn’t need a huge number of windows to bring in light. It’s on your roof, so the windows simply need to be carefully placed.
A kitchen extension doesn’t need glass doors all along the back wall and as many roof lights as possible in order for the room to benefit from the sporadic British sunshine. Most rooms have windows in only one wall. Most rooms also need wall space for wardrobes, drawers, beds, furniture and cabinets. Don’t go mad on windows! There’s no need. There’s nothing worse than a room with too many windows, getting too hot and with no space for furniture.

Planning An Extension? Plan Ahead

Summer is really kicking in and this often means households delay their plans for their new loft conversion, kitchen extension or general home alteration. It’s understandable! Summer holidays are far more important, right? You want the doors open, windows open and you don’t want building work going on during the sunniest time of year. We understand. We feel the same.
BUT… it’s a great time to get the ball rolling if you want to be ready to things moving once Autumn slips into place. Floor plans can be sorted now! Planning permission can be applied for and your home extension, whatever it may be, can be planned and ready to go.

Make Sure You’re in Good Hands

Did you know, a good builder is usually booked up for 3 or 4 months in advance?
Don’t leave it until the last minute to put your plans into place. If you want a loft conversion, you’ll easily find a number of companies who will offer their services. Likewise, if you want a kitchen extension or any other home extension you might find a company or builder who is free at short notice and can ‘start next week’, but don’t you think that’s odd? Check them out! Ask for references. Ask to see other extensions they’ve built but preferably try to find a busy builder!
A good builder is worth his weight in gold. He’ll be busy ALL the time and he’ll have a regular stream of workmen he has working relationships with. Plumbers, electricians, roofers, bricklayers…they tend to come as a package and a good team will work on every home extension together.
